The Cat Attic is a folk rock quintet led by the the songwriting and mandolin playing of Richard Worsman. Together with a dynamic rhythm section, impeccable fiddle, and vocal harmonies, The Cat Attic creates blends together bluegrass, singer-songwriter, indie rock, progressive rock, and more. We call this one-of-a-kind style of folk rock City Folk.

Debut Album: A House With Stairs

After forming in 2019, The Cat Attic released their debut LP A House With Stairs. The album was recorded at the world-class Rocking Horse Studio in Pittsfield, NH.

 

A House With Stairs cover art features the art of Boston’s Wendi Gray. Her work shows the band playing at a local brewery in Boston, MA.

The cover art for City Folk incorporates another of Wendi Gray’s pieces. This time, the artwork is her portrait of the skyline of Boston as seen from the top of Peter’s Hill.

Follow-up Album: City Folk

Building on the success of their first release, The Cat Attic release their sophomore LP City Folk. The album features new sonic textures. Produced in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, this album was produced in large part from fan support through a Go Fund Me campaign and a series of livestream concerts that The Cat Attic broadcasted throughout the quarantine.

Monsters

Monsters was the first single released by the band ahead of their debut album. This song is about self-discovery and finding a new level of understanding and comfort with oneself — worts and all.

Divine Lorraine

In the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia there was a hotel called The Divine Lorraine. A close friend of Richard’s was from that neighborhood and wanted to get a tattoo that involved this hotel. It was support to feature a pinup girl saying “Stay Divine Lorraine.” Sadly, the friend passed away before that tattoo could get inked. Richard penned this song on the 5th anniversary of his passing.
